Gone - William F. Buckley, Jr.: 1925-2008

"I propose, simply to expose what I regard as an extraordinarily irresponsible educational attitude that, under the protective label 'academic freedom,' has produced one of the most extraordinary incongruities of our time: the institution that derives its moral and financial support from Christian individualists and then addresses itself to the task of persuading the sons of these supporters to be atheistic socialists." ~ William F. Buckley, Jr. from God and Man at Yale

And the irresponsibility continues today.

Dear Sir ,
Thank you for your tribute to Buckley . A brilliant mind , a sparkling wit and a man with a command of the language we seldom encounter .
cordially ,
David Corbett

Thank you for reading David. You are so right. Buckley has caught a lot of heat in recent years from some on the hard right. Perhaps some of it is deserved, but as to Buckley's personal character and influence on conservatism - he is unassailable.
