In Celebration Of April 15th

As a young boy, I absolutely loved Walt Disney's patriotic themed episodes like Johnny Tremain, Davy Crockett, and Mosby's Marauders. Simple? - Yes. Heroic? - Yes. Accurate? - Somewhat. Entertaining? Very. Patriotic? Very. Worthwhile? Absolutely.

Now, go pay your taxes like good little subjects.

Hearing that announcers voice and the Disney theme music again made me quite uncomfortable...

with the memory of yet another Sunday evening over and my homework, as usual, untouched.

Had I known where I would end up 50 years later I would have watched with a much lighter heart.

I hear you, man, I hear you! As simplistic as those old Disney shows were, there was something very special and real about the portrayals. It sure beats Beavis & Butthead.
