From Civil War Interactive:
"The [Shenandoah] Battlefields Foundation also presented its Volunteer of the Year award to the Captain Jack Adams SCV Camp of Shenandoah County for its work to clean and restore the Summers-Koontz monument on the New Market battlefield . . . “This sort of volunteer and partner effort exemplifies the vision of the National Historic District’s legislation and its management plan,” said W. Denman Zirkle, executive director of the Battlefields Foundation."
Also, Sons of Confederate Veterans member (and Virginia House of Delegates member), Joe May, has been elected as one of the new trustees and officers of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation.
Congratulations to the Captain Jack Adams camp and Delegate Joe May!

(BTW, fellow CW blogger and author, Robert Moore, has written an excellent book regarding the story behind the Summers-Koontz monument.)
