Oh how glorious....
Check out the ribbons and Combat Infantry Badge on the cadet. He didn't get those at West Point! He's been there and I bet the other cadets don't mess with him.
And I'll bet you're right!
Excellent Post! I really like your blog - keep up the excellent work!Common Centshttp://www.commoncts.blogspot.com
If my old eyes are serving me well, this stud is wearing the Purple Heart, Good Conduct (meaning he was enlisted), National Defense and at least the SouthWest Asia Campaign medals. He can tell war stories already to his class mates, and may be reading the book because he is IN it. God bless him!
I absolutely love that photograph. And, I believe that 13th is right about the ribbons.
Fortunately, that young man doesn't have a purple heart ribbon. There were quite a few cadets in the audience with several rows of ribbons, CIBs, and Combat Action Badges. When I taught there, at least 10 percent of each class were former enlisted personnel. It seems there are even more former enlisted there now. God bless them. Chris Matthews is the real enemy, but fortunately for the rest of us, he's too stupid to pose much of a threat....
It dawned on me later that "of course he was prior enlisted" lol. He would have no need to attend the Academy if he were already an officer! I was tired. Yeah, that is my excuse! I was tired.
