Interesting...nice plug fox gives to this guys book. Too bad he is wrong when it comes to my teaching.#1. Don't teach it that way#2. Ditto#3. I give a balanced view...McCarty got some wrong and some right...mainly went overboard with his claims overall.#4. Combination of both men's actions.
Thanks Corey, but I don't think he was speaking specifically about you, just the general trend in colleges. I realize there are educators who do their best to keep their political views out of the classroom, but that is not universal. But there's no question that academia is dominated by leftist ideology - you certainly don't deny that, do you?http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8427-2005Mar28.html
I know it was not directed at me, but I think those types of books a bunk in the first place. I have seen the Pearl Harbor claim on several conservative sites in order to make FDR look bad.I think the question is...why do so many "leftists" become teachers? And don't insult me with the old addage of "those who can, do and those who can't, teach."I have never really seen the liberal bias...but then again I went to the same college as Ronald Reagan.
Fan of the ole' Gipper, are you?
Yes, I suppose I like Reagan because he was president when I was old enough to understand things, from the age of 10-18 I saw him twice in Eureka...once before the assassination attempt and once after. Looking back I don't really agree with his economics, but his national defense and actions bringing about the fall of the Commies make him a great president.Plus, I got to know him better as I packed up the artifacts now on display at the Reagan Museum at Eureka College.
"I packed up the artifacts now on display at the Reagan Museum at Eureka College."That must have been quite interesting. I voted for the first time in my life in 1980 at the age of 22. I cast my very first vote for Reagan.
You're right Corey. It's all a myth. The activist historian is the final answer. Now go back to sleep.
Corey - PS: The WAPO piece is just more right wing progaganda and the NEA page that recommends Alinsky's book - that was actually put up by Glenn Beck - spread the word.
