Will Academia Admit Their Gross Error?

I doubt it. But at least other departments of the Ruling Class Elite are coming clean, sorta:

According to a study by the media scholars Stephen J. Farnsworth and S. Robert Lichter, The Times’s coverage of the president’s first year in office was significantly more favorable than its first-year coverage of three predecessors who also brought a new party to power in the White House: George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan . . . Readers deserve to know: Who is the real Barack Obama?
Oh, if only they'd asked that question in 2008.

And The Times needs to show that it can address the question in a hard-nosed, unbiased way.
And so do those who claim to know how to interpret and analyze history so much better than the rest of us. But don't hold your breath.

If they do, you can bet it won't be on the front page.

Probably so.
