Battle Of McDowell 150

As I had posted earlier, I had the privilege of speaking at the commemoration for the Battle of McDowell's 150th anniversary yesterday, May the 5th. The program I was a part of took place in the historic McDowell Presbyterian Church. Though heavy rains likely hindered attendance, there were still more people there than I expected to see. Below are a few photos I took at the event.

McDowell Presbyterian Church founded in 1822. This building dates to 1858.

Over 400 reenactors were in attendance and camping.

Plaque commemorating the battle in front of the church.

More reenactors.

Speaker roster for the day.

Local paper insert.

Soldiers allegedly carved initials and dates into the brick on the front of the church.
