"Going commando" is a custom dating back hundreds of years when clansmen warriors of the Highlands wore little but long kilts that wrapped around the shoulder. The Scottish military took up the idea, and Scots regiments still parade sans underwear to this day."

Then again, maybe they should keep them on.

Why Catholic? The majority of Highlanders are Presbyterians. Many of them settled in Ulster and became Scots-Irish.
