We're All Honor Students Now

Citing concerns about the "exclusive nature" of the annual honors night at Archie R. Cole Middle School, school officials have decided to scrap the tradition.
School administrators are doing a great disservice to students with these kinds of action.  What a shock awaits these students when they have to cope in the real world where nature and market forces enforce an "exclusive nature". Surreal.

School Principal Alexis Meyer and Assistant Principal Dan Seger attempted to justify their decision to cancel the Honors recognition event claiming:

"Members of the school community have long expressed concerns related to the exclusive nature of Honors Night," the email stated.

Perhaps Meyer and Segar could be called upon to offer some evidence of the compelling nature of all that "long expressed concern." After all, it would not only be the honorable thing to do, it would also be an lesson in personal integrity and professional responsibility the students could learn something from.

PS: It seems outrage has overcome concern and the event is back on schedule.
