Enjoying these videos, Richard. I'm especially intrigued with this one. So many folks focus (I think) on Civil War era artifacts in the Valley, but I don't think there's much thought given to Colonial era/early Republic pieces. Great finds!

Thanks Robert! Yes, I'm just as interested in the Colonial and pre-war items as I am the WBTS stuff. They tell a fascinating story. I hope to do a book one day - photos and details about some of these finds. These recent videos have been "on hold" since last fall. I just wanted to catch up since the fall season is now in full swing - especially after the recent rains.

About thirty years ago I was relic hunting near Chantilly (all tarmac and concrete now) and found a 'Colony of Virginia' coin, about two feet away from a brass ornament from a McClellan Saddle. Layers of history . . . .

Hey Mark. Yes, definitely, "layers." Thinking about the artifacts that have been paved over makes me ill. I got out yesterday for a little while to a new camp site for me, but one that has been heavily hunted by others. My son and I were still able to dig some camp lead, a tent grommet, a button back and an eagle button. Still kind of grown up, we'll try again after some of the vegetation dies back.
