Sounds like an interesting article! You've picqued my interest, at least!
I took my old White's detector to Gettysburg Electronics/Christian Book Store this week. (I bought my first detector there in 1975. The store sits on the south side of Chambersburg Street on the first block south of town square.) The store's owner, Don Hinks, basically rebuilt my circa 1981 White's analog detector and now it works like new. Picked up a new head set and digging tool, too. OK, Richard, I'm ready. Let the games begin.
I still have an old analog as well - a Fisher 1266X. I did the same thing you did. I sent it to a fella in Texas and he went over it with a fine tooth comb - good as new. Sounds like you're ready to roll!
I've always loved metal detecting as a kid. I hope you're able to post the article here soon.
