Cultural Cleansing - I Told You So

Washington Equestrian Statue, Richmond, Virginia. How long before this one is moved?
I've been saying for years that the attack on all things Confederate was just the beginning - the low-hanging fruit so to speak. The moral reformer "historians" have inspired a whole generation to take the crusade to the next logical step. Here's the latest example:
Students at Stanford University, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, are attempting to scrub names and symbols that honor people who are historically connected to slavery and colonialism from the college campus. The move echoes a series of colleges across the nation whose students have attempted to do the same.
The latest target in this battle is Saint Junipero Serra, an 18th-century Spanish, Roman Catholic priest and missionary who was canonized last September. His name is on two dorms, an academic building a street and the mall that is the school’s official address. [Source.]
And the moral reformer "historians" pretend to be innocent bystanders. No, they're enablers providing cover for this Marxist radicalism. They hide behind furrowed brow, chin-rubbing, obfuscating commentary while they silently cheer these kinds of things. Just useful idiots in many cases.

Here in New Orleans there is an attempt at the moment to remove four monuments considered offensive to certain people, it is more political but they have the backing of the Mayor. You mentioned the "useful idiots" Well, this is a V. I. Lenin phrase and it refer to those people who allow themselves to be used but later they are eliminated, this is one thing I remember from the communist take over in Cuba. Most who backed the Castro brothers were later killed or sent to prison. That is why they are useful fools. In New Orleans, it is interesting that they are not calling for the removal of Andrew Jackson.
Thank you and God bless you

Hello Jorge. Good to hear from you my friend. Your perspective is very appropriate in the current environment.

There's now a move by the vice-mayor of Charlottesville, VA to remove the Lee monument. I'm surprised it's taken this long. The Social Justice Warrior/Moral Reformer Historian movement rolls on. And they pretend to be innocent bystanders.

Richard have you been following the REL statue story in Charlottesville? Will UVa and Monticello be next??

Kennan - Not really following the story, but I'm aware. As I get older, it's just more difficult for me to suffer fools. My only surprise is that it's taken this long.

"Will UVa and Monticello be next??"

Aspects, yes. The PC/moral reformers posing as historians are not through, I can assure you of that. What's so comical is that they are now pretending to be innocent bystanders after years and years of incessant Confederate and hero bashing.

They're either out and out liars or too stupid to see they've provided much of the impetus for the current climate.
